Labyrinth Fish of Asia and Africa
Labyrinth fish are a very exquisite breed of fish that utilize oxygen from both the water and surface air through the use of a special organ called the “labyrinth organ”, which gives the fish its namesake. Very popular as an aquarium fish, the most common kept types of labyrinth fish are the Siamese Fighting Fish and Paradise fish.
The Labyrinth fish, due to its special organ, can survive in very low oxygen environments. Some have even been known to crawl across small patches of land to find a different source of water and even climb trees.
